Coinciding with major celebrations and events nationwide, on the 4th June 2018, I curated an exhibition entitled Marking the Martyrs – which ran in association with Parliament’s ‘Vote 100’. ‘Marking the Martyrs’ was an exciting month long ‘feminist identified’ art exhibition which sought to commemorate, celebrate, and educate about the physical martyrdom of the Suffragettes, with contributing artists on hand to talk to the public. It featured work produced by seven regional and international artists.
My work for this exhibition featured a series of ceramic busts of prominent ‘martyrs’ – the Suffragists and Suffragettes that played important roles for advancing the rights of women.
